What a monthly business health review should cover

A practical outline of the questions a growing business should be able to answer at the end of each month.

A monthly review is not a board pack and it is not an audit. It is a short, honest look at whether administration, documents, money and priorities are still in a usable state.

Start with administration. Has correspondence been answered? Are follow-ups sitting with a named person, or with whoever happened to see the email? If the owner is still the office, that is the first finding.

Then documents. Which letters, records and operating documents were used this month, and which are now stale? Core includes one business document a month; Elevate two. The review should say whether that cadence is being used.

Finances, where the package includes bookkeeping capture, should be current enough that a summary can be read without reconstruction. A score without numbers behind it is only a conversation.

Close with priorities. What must be done next month on purpose — not whichever request arrived last. That list becomes the action review the client sees in the portal.
